Abang is the Head of the Halal Enforcement Section in the Ministry of Religious Affairs. He shares his expertise in upholding Halal compliance and awareness as an adjunct lecturer in local universities. As a member of Unit Muraqib, Abang is involved in overseeing the successful implementation of the ministry’s strategic plans. 

Abang is Vice President 3 of the Council of Brunei on Social Welfare (Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat), a non-government organisation that helps the less fortunate. He also represented Brunei as Head of Delegation of Singapore Brunei Youth Leadership Programme 2022, and was the Class Monitor for the 2nd cohort of the Young Executive Programme, organised by the Prime Minister’s Office for potential young leaders as part of the Civil Service Leadership Pipeline.

In addition, he co-founded Sukarelawan Belia, a volunteering platform dedicated to assisting the Ministry of Health in COVID-related efforts. He also served as the vice president of the Brunei Youth Council in 2019 and 2020, attended the 36th ASEAN Summit as a youth leader and represented Brunei at Faithfully ASEAN and Interfaith Exchange in 2020.

Syahirah values lifelong learning and enjoys collaborations with others to make meaningful social impact.

A proud working mother, a certified perinatal mental health specialist, and an alumna of the Young Southeast Asian Leadership Initiative - Women’s Leadership Academy 2021, Syahirah was the Co-founder and Content Strategy Lead for ‘Jaga Mama’ project, a project that supports mothers through perinatal mental health education and a group support network. She also co-authored a mental health e-book.

As head of the media team and advisor for a youth-led campaign of the South East Asian (SEA) Games called ‘Beyond the Games 2023’, he elevated the international reputation of Cambodia during Cambodia’s first hosting of the SEA Games.

Beyond her work, she volunteers and plays a key role in launching the Subsidised Home Ownership for Teachers programme.

Firdha graduated with a Master’s Degree from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. She was part of Temasek Foundation – Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (TF-LKYSPP) Southeast Asia Next-Gen Leaders Programme and was selected as a Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Fellow for the 2023 Public Policy Course in Vietnam.

He is also an Executive Committee member of the Johor Youth Council, where he contributes to policy making aimed at empowering youths.

Darren is passionate about community service and dedicated to shaping effective policies. He previously served as a Special Officer to then-Johor State Executive Councillor for Tourism, Youth, and Sports, Onn Hafiz Ghazi, from 2020 to 2022. During this time, he was the point-person on youth-related issues and was instrumental in the development of the Johor state Government’s strategies to engage the youth.

She was nominated by the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur for the International Woman of Courage Award and was listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 for her work in social impact. She was also a delegate at the Future Leaders Invitation Programme and had represented Malaysia as a youth delegate in the International Youth Leadership Programme.

Currently pursuing Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, she aims to establish a social enterprise that enables intellectually disabled youths to explore creative fields through empathy and resilience.

Phyo Su Moe was a finalist in Falling Wall Lab Myanmar 2022, Symposium Accelerating Science, Technology and Circular Innovation in Southeast Asia and a fellow of the 2020 YSEALI Academic Fellowship. She represented Myanmar at the 22nd Session of UNCRPD in Geneva, Switzerland, and her participation in ChangemakerXChange in Singapore in 2019 further fuels her drive to promote inclusion and create positive change for disabled youth.

Mr Lee Kah How

Kah How is currently with the HealthTech team with Open Government Products (OGP) which supported the rollout of a patient care/case management system for medical social workers to all Public Healthcare Institutions in Singapore.

Before OGP, Kah How founded a GSV Top 200 EduTech Startup on a pro bono basis. He also started CareerContact, a ground-up initiative which aims to assist pre-university students in developing future-ready skills by pairing them with enterprises in Southeast Asia.

Kah How’s interest in Southeast Asia deepened when he worked as an investment analyst in venture capital in Jakarta as well as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila. He taught Economics for 4 years at Raffles Institution. He is currently working on String, a tech ecosystem builder focused on educators based in Singapore to increase exposure to tech and industry development for teachers and eventually students.

Currently, he is the Vice Chairperson of the Review Committee (Welfare Homes) under the Ministry of Social and Family Development, where he helps chair and guide case management discussions on psychiatric cases within the Homes relating to destitute persons.

He was voted as Most Inspiring Story as one of the 15 finalists of the Singapore Youth Award in 2019, and was part of the National Council of Social Services (NCSS) inaugural batch of 40-Under-40 promising leaders of the social services sector.

Ms Nguyen Thi Huyen

Jolly Nguyen, from Vietnam, is a social entrepreneur, founder and country leader. Jolly has earned a Master’s degree in International Development Studies, focusing on ASEAN regional sustainable development. For the past nine years, she has been actively advocating for social impact, youth empowerment, sustainable development, combating climate change, and reducing plastic waste. She established the social venture EVOL Vietnam which aims to raise urban residents’ awareness while also taking steps to eliminate single-use plastic in the ocean. She also served as the Non-Executive Board Member of the ASEAN-Australia Strategic Youth Partnership where she supported the executive team to build and sharpen partnerships between ASEAN and Australia to encourage and support youth in the region to solve regional issues.

Jolly is also involved as a mentor for a variety of mentoring, incubation and accelerating programs where she contributes her time and knowledge to support young people, especially young women entrepreneurs, to pursue their role in the entrepreneurship journey to bring bigger positive impact to the world. With all of her contributions, she received the nomination for the “Mentor of the Year‘’ category of Women for Future in 2022 and the Member of the “30 for 2030 Network” of UN Women Asia-Pacific. Through her professional and social work, she is dedicated to promoting inclusion, diversity and positive impact.

Over the past twelve years, Mai has served in both the private and public sectors, including trade-assistance projects under US Agency in International Development (USAID), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and International Trade Center (ITC), Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade). She also worked with Hinrich Foundation, a philantrophic organisation promoting sustainable global trade, and Global Sources, a Business to Business (B2B) company connecting suppliers and buyers.

She holds a Master of Arts in Business and Financial Journalism from Hong Kong Baptist University where she was awarded the Hinrich Global Trade Leader Scholarship. She is also a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP®).
