To be able to effect positive change across cultures in underserved communities in a world of rapid changes, Singapore’s youth volunteers must be equipped with skills as well as purpose and empathy. The SIF Service-Learning Fund supports the intergenerational Service-Learning Programme that immerses post-secondary students in real-world projects across Southeast Asia, China, and India. On this programme, young Singaporeans learn by serving communities in need, while being mentored by experienced Singapore International Volunteers (SIVs) who are specialists in their fields. 

Student Service Learners are thoughtfully matched to in-country projects aligned with their fields of study. They take part in a 4–6-month service-learning journey that includes preparation, an overseas immersion, and post-trip reflection. Working alongside the SIVs, they gain a firsthand insight into regional challenges, cross-cultural collaboration, and sustainable solutions.
