Picture a Better World Photo Contest
Dear Friends,
The photo contest has come to a close. In the coming days, you will receive a notification from us if your photo has been shortlisted or selected as a winning entry. Please look out for updates on this page as well as on our social media pages. We thank you for your participation, and we look forward to your continued presence in our future initiatives.
Closing Date: 15 October 2017
As the age-old expression goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Do you have such a picture in your possession - one that captures acts, or people and places, contributing towards building a better world?
Over the course of 25 years, the Singapore International Foundation's Citizen Ambassadors have reached out to communities in over 17 countries, making friends to build a better world. Picture a Better World - our photo contest - invites you to share your meaningful memories and experiences in the course of your work with the SIF.
We hope your stories, shared through visual means, will inspire others to join our growing and generous community of people who share ideas, skills and experiences to contribute to sustainable development.
Share with us your best photo(s) during your participation in one of the SIF's programmes - e.g. during a Direct Service trip such as the Water for Life and Words on Wheels programmes, Specialist volunteer trips, YSE study visits/workshops, Cultural Exchange programmes or at any events organised by the SIF from 1991 to the present.
You can submit a maximum of 3 photos.
Photos should portray vibrant, happy or touching moments that may reflect one or more of the following:
- The spirit of enduring friendships.
- The effect of positive change.
- The magic of connecting with others.
- The power of cultural understanding.
- The joy of collaboration.
Here are some examples of photos that serve as a guide on the kind of entries that would make a winning photo.

Photos will be judged on, above all the ability, to capture the essence of building a better world. Further to that we will look at composition, quality and technique as well as creativity and spontaneity.
The deadline for submission is on 15 October 2017.
You can submit your photos online via the contest form or mail the completed hard copy of the form together with printed copies of your photo(s) to:
