Spaniard Victor Ferre Pellicer rallies fellow business school students to build water filters in rural Siem Reap villages after learning about Singapore’s water management strategies.
It was a half-day programme on Singapore’s water management systems that turned Victor Ferre Pellicer (first from right) into a volunteer.
Victor, who hails from Barcelona, Spain, was one of 23 international MBA students who took part in our first Singapore Insights programme.
The series of thematic study visits brings Singapore’s international community to the heart of the city’s strategy and innovation.

Inspired by his discoveries about Singapore’s water management strategies, Victor took part in another SIF project: Water for Life.
The Siem Reap-based project has teams building and installing water filters, outfitting rural villages with easy access to clean drinking water.
The project is jointly funded by Deutsche Bank and Ngee Ann Development.
Victor rallied a group of volunteers from among the 500-strong international student community at Insead business school. He even took the lead on a fundraising effort that secured $5,000 – an amount that would support 14 students’ trip to Siem Reap.
There, the group comprising several nationalities installed 60 water filters and built 40 more, helping over 100 families in three days.
It’s people like Victor, who get inspired and believe in the good they can achieve, that are at the heart of what we do.
