A New Singapore-American Friendship SIF-NAF Fellow Visit
SIF hosted a visit by 15 New America Foundation fellows and staff from 5 to 9 May 2014, bringing together policymakers, thought leaders and opinion shapers from the US and Singapore for an exchange of insights. The inaugural SIF-NAF Fellows visit marks a new partnership between our organisations.
Titled Insights into the Challenges and Policy Options of a City-state, the five-day programme resulted in a lively exchange of insights on issues of mutual interest. These included Singapore’s ethnic diversity and multicultural policies, challenges and policy innovations in population, governance, healthcare, education and housing, as well as the impact of technology and media on society.
We are delighted to share with you some highlights of the visit
The NAF Fellows visit and engagement with the Singapore community strengthens the rich tapestry of relationships between the people of both countries. The insights gained from the visit will be published in a reader and discussed at a roundtable session in conjunction with SIF Connects! Washington this coming September. We will be working closely with the NAF on the sharing of this Singaporean-American tale.
In the meantime, for your reading pleasure is an article by NAF Vice President Andres Martinez on how Singapore has dealt with the challenges of globalization.
