Fifteen Young Social Entrepreneur (YSE) teams embark on an eight-month experiential learning programme.
Fifteen teams, consisting of members from China, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam, were shortlisted from the 2015 Young Social Entrepreneurs workshop held in March, out of 43 teams that were admitted. Since then, our young changemakers have started on a mentorship scheme with leading consultants from McKinsey & Company to enhance their business plans, and have participated in two study visits to India and Malaysia as part of experiential learning.
They got to learn from and interact with leading social entrepreneurs, business professionals and other youths who are keen on social innovation.
The overseas study visits were made possible by the collaboration with SIF’s partners in the social, corporate and academic sectors, who shared with the YSE participants tips on how to leverage the efforts of government, corporates and local communities to further their work, through site visits and sessions with industry leaders. These partners include Ashoka, Intellecap, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, UnLtd India, Taj Hotels and Tata Motors in India and British Council Malaysia, Malaysian Global Innovation & Creativity Centre (MaGIC), Iskandar Regional Development Authority and Scope Group in Malaysia.
The YSE journey will culminate in the Pitching for Change 2015, where teams will pitch for funding of up to SGD 20,000 to launch or scale up their social enterprises. In conjunction with the event, we will also be holding a dialogue session on “Nurturing Young Leaders for a Better World”. Join us for the session happening on Friday, October 23, from 4pm to 7pm at the Suntec City Convention Centre – RSVP at [email protected].
