YSE 2017 Workshop

Professor Satyajit Majumdar a faculty member of the Centre of Social Entrepreneurship, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), shares with the YSE 2017 participants on what the TISS offers in their Master’s Degree in Social Entrepreneurship programme.

YSE 2017’s global youth participants collaborate during the Social Innovation through Design Thinking workshop conducted by Republic Polytechnic where they brainstorm ideas on how to create value in their products using a human-centred approach.

Participants hone their social entrepreneurial skills at the YSE 2017 Workshop’s business clinics with guidance from students and graduates of Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, Singapore Management University and the Distinguished Universities Alumni Link network. These mentors also shared tips on delivering impactful business presentations.

Good for Food from Singapore, one of the 63 social enterprise teams at the YSE 2017 Workshop, pitches their social business plan to a panel of judges for a spot in the YSE’s eight-month long incubation programme. Good for Food seeks to reduce food wastage and promote equitable food distribution.

YSE 2017 Workshop participants visit Healthserve, as part of social enterprise Geylang Adventures’ walking trail, to gain knowledge of how social enterprises work with multiple stakeholders to provide better services to the communities they work with. Healthserve is an NGO that provides various support services to migrant workers in Singapore, often with the help of volunteers.

The YSE 2017 Workshop welcomes its most diverse group comprising 138 youths from 18 countries including Canada, Indonesia and India for a four-day programme encompassing business clinics, training workshops, a dialogue, a fireside chat session and peer learnings and exchanges.

138 youths from 18 countries are now part of the YSE’s global network of 511 changemakers connected by a shared vision to solve today’s social challenges and effect positive change through entrepreneurial means.
