Journalist Visit Programme, Indonesia 2015

The journalists dialogued with Dr William Wan, General Secretary of Singapore Kindness Movement (SKM), where they exchanged perspectives on gracious living and ideas on promoting positive change in their respective communities.

The SIF organises journalist visit programmes (JVPs) for opinion shapers in international media to gain first-hand insights into the head, heart and soul of Singapore. Through them, we aim to share Singapore’s social policies and innovations, multicultural diversity and way of life, promoting greater cross-cultural understanding between peoples of Singapore and Indonesia.

The journalists experienced a guided tour at Dialogue in the Dark, a social enterprise which aims to raise awareness and facilitate inclusion of marginalised people in the community in Singapore.

The journalists met with the TUJU group, a collective of five cultural ambassadors we partner with under the Singapore Internationale programme. They connect and collaborate with Indonesian artists in cultural exchange projects.

Dr R. Akhileswaran, CEO & Medical Director of HCA Hospice Care, sharing insights into palliative care in Singapore, including how his team of volunteer doctors and nurses are working with their Indonesian counterparts to enhance the practice of palliative care in Jakarta through a SIF project.

The journalists went for a guided tour at the Land Transport Authority (LTA)’s Transport Gallery to learn about how the agency is working to create an efficient and sustainable public transportation system to meet evolving public needs.
