Singapore International Volunteers Appreciation Evening 2012

This year's SIV Appreciation Evening took place on 14 September and celebrated old bonds and new friendships.

We also honoured three SIVs who have shown exceptional leadership in enabling long-term changes and deep impact in the projects that they were involved in.

Professor David Koh was recognised as the most inspiring volunteer with his 17 years of unwavering, dedicated service and was conferred the Outstanding SIV Award.

Ms Ang Poh Wah and Dr Khoo Kim Choo were both presented with the Outstanding SIV Special Commendation Award.

On 5 Dec 2009, the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) marked International Volunteer Day with a knowledge sharing session on the topic of Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of Children in Asia.

Four invited speakers discussed challenges faced by children in Asia today  from healthcare, to education to protection from abuse and exploitation.

On 5 Dec 2009, the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) marked International Volunteer Day with a knowledge sharing session on the topic of Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of Children in Asia.

Four invited speakers discussed challenges faced by children in Asia today  from healthcare, to education to protection from abuse and exploitation.
 

Since August 2005, the SIF Singapore Volunteers Overseas programme has been sending volunteers to help train educators from Ullon Social Welfare Society (USWS). In July 2009, the project concluded with a study visit to Singapore by four Bengali teachers. Here, USWS teachers Ms Srabanti Haldar and Ms Sujata Halder share their thoughts on the programme Ms Ayantika Mukherjee, a Singapore PR, kindly volunteered as interpreter for the visit.
