Arts Connection: Little by Little (Embassy of Japan / Japan Association)

Our friends from the Embassy of Japan in Singapore and the Japanese Association, Singapore, shared with Little Arts Academy students about one of their major national celebrations, Hinamatsuri or the Japanese Doll Festival - which took place the same weekend in Japan, using origami techniques to make paper dolls.

In turn, the LAA students shared with their new Japanese friends about the recent lunar new year celebrations and practices in Singapore.

Arts Connection: Little by Little (Embassy of Indonesia)

Our friends from the Embassy of Indonesia in Singapore shared with Little Arts Academy students about Indonesian culture through teaching the Angklung - the traditional West Java musical instrument made from bamboo and through the art of paper weaving. On their part, the LAA students shared with their new Indonesian friends Singapore-themed songs, “Reach for the Skies”, “Home” and “In a heartbeat."

Arts Connection: Little by Little (Malaysian High Commission)

Our friends from the Malaysian High Commission teaching the Little Arts Academy youths how to Joget (traditional Malay dance that originated in Malacca) and make Roti Jala (lacy pancakes).

Ashoka Fellows, who are leading social entrepreneurs, share with Little Arts Academy youths about how they are changing the world with good business.

Arts Connection: Little by Little is a programme organised by the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) to involve and enable the international community in Singapore to improve the lives of financially disadvantaged youths through the arts.
